First click the (Type Tool) "T" on your toolbar.

Then click on the center of the art board and type a word.

Then, go to the window tab and click character. This box will appear. This box will adjust the font size.

Take the direct select tool and wave it over each of the letters. Then refine edge.

Make sure you adjust the output to create a new

layer with a layer mask.

Drag in your picture of choice.

Holding the shift key, grab a corner and fit the picture to the art board.

Hold alt whilst dragging the mask from your font layer to the picture layer.

Double click on the text layer to add effects.

Now drag in your background, and pull that layer below your font layer to set it in the back.
